What are the Benefits of Caffeine in Skincare?

We’re headed down to Southern California on our Sustainable Road Trip to visit an organic coffee farm and learning the surprising benefits of coffee in skincare.

Are you a coffee lover? Or maybe even fall under the category of coffee addict? We’re right there with you! It’s an off-the-books office policy to not start any morning work talk before a co-worker’s first sip of java. Coffee is not just for your morning go-go juice, it’s also an amazing skincare ingredient (and used in our most iconic product: Coffee Bean Caffeine Eye Cream). Come along while we go in for a deep-dive into coffee (and its caffeine powers) at an organic coffee farm, Good Land Organics, right in our backyard of Goleta, California. We’ll be touring the coffee tree farm, stopping in for a delicious coffee tasting and hopefully walking out of there with our feet on the ground versus buzzing out.

6 Benefits of Caffeine (Coffee) in Natural Skin Care

There are numerous studies touting the benefits of actually drinking a cup of coffee, but did you know that coffee is also amazing for you skin? When applied topically caffeine from coffee can give you a more youthful, well-rested appearance. While drinking coffee will get you that short sprint to feeling energized, applying natural coffee-based skin care topically in your daily skincare routine will have you going the distance targeting dark circles and puffiness. While you can always use a natural concealer to temporarily hide dark circles or puffy eyes, why not target the root of the problem?

DEPUFF
The dreaded “bags” under your eyes…maybe it’s from a late night, allergies or maybe it runs in the family (Thanks, Mom!). Puffy eyes are no one’s friend. Caffeine in coffee is used to help battle puffiness by helping to reduce swelling. It constricts your blood vessels just below the surface of your eye area to help reduce that pillow-y look.

DARK CIRCLES
Another popular eye area concern is dark circles. The raccoon-look is best left to our furry friends. Caffeine is also amazing at reducing dark under eye circles. By boosting your circulation via topical application, blood is forced to move around versus just “pooling” under your eye (the cause of dark circles). To double down on erasing dark circles, make sure to stay hydrated, and be well-rested.

TIGHTEN SKIN
How many wonderful skin benefits does coffee have? A lot and we’re still going strong! The caffeine in coffee is also amazing at helping to minimize fine lines and wrinkles.

ANTIOXIDANTS
Did you know that coffee is rich in powerful antioxidants? Antioxidants help to repair skin damage caused by UV rays. We’ve mixed this antioxidant-rich green bean extract in a luxurious base of rosehip oil, organic aloe juice, and vitamin e for a powerhouse natural formula.

FREE RADICALS
One of the major contributors to premature aging are those pesky free radicals. These unseen molecules are responsible for wrinkles, loss of skin elasticity and fine lines. Bleeh. Get some help fighting with the power of caffeine. The antioxidants within coffee extract helps to attack and eliminate free radicals.

ANTI-INFLAMMATORY
Another benefit to coffee in skincare is its amazing anti-inflammatory properties. This is a key ingredient in helping to reduce redness and swelling in your delicate eye area. Caffeine works as a diuretic, helping to flush out toxins and reduce redness and irritation.
